Proprioception
Where am I? Proprioception is the ability to accurately perceive where our bodies are in space.
A sensory room can provide touch, pressure and a keen awareness of your physical self, encouraging a better understanding of spatial awareness and proprioception, this is why movement and sensation are inextricably linked. This is turn will help with the development of fine and gross motor skills. Using fibre optic strands wrapped around an arm or leg or as a blanket or being covered in a multi-sensory ball pool can awaken those deep touch receptors creating better awareness. Just moving through the sea of balls in our ball pool engages deep muscle fibers that for some may not be active otherwise.
